20th August 2004 Windsurfing: Golf Course Car park, Ynyslas Wind Direction: NNW Wind Stength: 25-5 knots! Surf / Sea State: 2-3 foot surf Air Temperature: 12ºC Sea Temperature: 17ºC Weather: Rain Max Speed: Distance Covered: Nice and windy again today and it felt as though winter was here. I wited until about 4pm to go to the beach, waiting for the winds and rain to ease a bit. When I got there Derek was out with his 5m Wipika again and Chris was hanging around waiting for the wind to drop. I would have rigged my 5m and wave board but as I broke it yesterday along with my mast had to go with a 4.5m sail instead. I used my voodoo as it was still set up for use on a 430 mast from the last time I broke my 400cm mast and 5m sail!. Its not as nice as my 4.5m Gun Wave MC, but I couldn't be bothered to adjust the head on that one so went for the voodoo. Once on the water I was nicely powered up and made some massive jumps off the big clean swells out the back. I was never completely comfortable with the sail, probably because it was on the wrong mast as well, but still had a good hour well powered up amongst the swell. Darren came out to join me after a while, but before long the wind just died. it went from a solid 25 knots to next to nothing.... Needless to say I sank and had a bit of a drift/swim home and then a long walk of shame! Still, it was good while it lasted. |
